Alpaslan Aliağaoğlu, Abdullah Uğur Cities directly or indirectly affect a very large part of the world's population by connecting the surrounding population to themselves, due to their central location and the variety of goods and services they produce, together with the dense population they contain. For this reason, cities have a complex and rapidly changing structure by nature. For this reason, cities are difficult to plan, and their problems are many and varied. Globalization, which has been increasing its impact since the 1990s, has made this structure of cities even more complex.
Solving the problems of the cities and ensuring a healthy city development is only possible by analyzing the cities in a multi-faceted manner. This study aims to update the city, which has a long history and a rapid change, and the urban geography issues that deal with it, and to contribute to the multi-faceted analysis of cities.

Abdurrahman Aktümsek, Gökalp Özmen Güler, Yavuz Selim Çakmak, Gökhan Zengin This book has been prepared for faculty or college students who take the biochemistry course in a short period of time, such as one semester. Although there are many translated and written biochemistry books in our country, what makes this book unique among them is that it has a content and appropriate volume that students can easily understand.
In the writing of the book, one of the most valid methods in learning and teaching, the "general to detailed method" was applied. At the beginning of each topic, a brief summary of that topic is given and then the details of the topic are given.
In order to better understand the information, the written information is associated with examples and analogies and supported by many formulas, pictures and tables.
Burhan Kacar It has been witnessed that the number of plant, soil and fertilizer analysis laboratories has increased rapidly in our country in recent years, and this number exceeds thirty in some provinces. The main reason for this is that the negativities in traditional (conventional) agriculture are clearly seen in our country, as in various countries, and the "Good Agricultural Practices, GAP" regulation came into force within the framework of the European Union (EU) harmonization program. The negative effects on the environment of the lack of guidance and control in the application of agricultural inputs, especially chemical fertilizers and pesticides, on human and animal health have been clearly seen.
Sıddık Arslan This book, which deals with the basic issues of mathematics teaching at the undergraduate level with the approach of giving lectures in the classroom, is the product of twenty years of experience. In the explanation of the subjects; It has adopted the aim of being able to carry out the mathematical operations that students need, to develop mathematical thinking and to teach mathematical concepts.
In the book; numbers, algebra, functions, derivatives and integrals, which are the basic subjects of mathematical analysis, and vector, matrix, determinant and linear equation systems of linear algebra are explained at a basic level.
The following principles were taken into account in the selection of the exercises in the book:
1. To ensure that the student learns and reinforces the subject,
2. To develop mathematical processing skills and thinking,
3. To convert a given problem statement into a mathematical expression by interpreting the theoretical information.
It is aimed that the Basic and General Mathematics book will be useful to all students.
Akif Avcu Today, many different statistical processes have become an integral part of test development processes in order to examine the qualities that measurement tools should have. With the widespread use of measurement tools, these procedures have been accepted as a "standard" for many researchers. In particular, confirmatory factor analysis and explanatory factor analysis are carried out to examine the construct validity. On the other hand, it is seen that these analyzes carried out today are carried out with techniques based on item response theory. In addition, the examination of structural equivalence, person congruence, and differentiated item functions are increasingly used in studies to determine validity. In addition to providing theoretical explanations on this new understanding of the validity and reliability, this book also includes a content that explains how the analyzes are carried out in the R software environment and how the findings are interpreted. For this reason, the R software environment is introduced in a part of the book. In order to make it easier for researchers to make applications, the R codes of the sample analyzes and the data sets used are also available to the readers. With this book, it is hoped that the frequency of use of modern test development applications in future studies will increase.

Medical biology and genetics is the science of biology that studies the hereditary character that affects human existence and health. This book has been arranged according to the needs of the departments to be used during the conduct of the "Medical Biology and Genetics" course taught in the first years of Health Services programs and faculties. The selected course contents are handled in a general framework and aim to provide students with a basic perspective on the field. The chapters of the book are planned as seven chapters in accordance with this purpose. In the first three chapters, cell biology and metabolism are explained from simple to complex in the light of current literature. In the following three chapters, the structure and organization of hereditary material are explained and detailed information is given about genetic diseases affecting human health. In the last section, cancer genetics and pathogenesis are explained and the pathophysiological process from gene to cell behavior is discussed as a whole.
Students who are new to higher education have difficulty in understanding the main subjects of medical biology and genetics, which consist of abstract data. For this reason, the topics in the book are explained in an understandable language as well as being embodied with detailed drawings. Although the topics are explained briefly and concisely, they are supported by the current literature.
Ender M. Coşkunpınar In recent years, our knowledge has increased within the scope of research on the molecular basis of diseases. With the use of increasing knowledge in both medical biology and medical genetics, diseases caused by cellular and chromosomal changes, which have a genetic basis, are tried to be understood on the one hand and treated on the other. Written from this point of view, this book covers all topics from the beginning of life to cell death mechanisms under the main title of "Medical Biology". Under the main title of “Genetics”, it provides an integrity starting from the structure of DNA and RNA, including the features of the genetic code, mutations and inheritance patterns. The difference of our book from its counterparts written so far is that the second part includes molecular genetics applications and practical applications step by step. There are six chapters in the "Application" part of the book, in which medical biology and genetics are covered in fourteen chapters. This book, which has been prepared in accordance with the curriculum of the relevant boards of medical faculties, is a textbook that can be used in the relevant departments of health sciences faculties, dentistry faculties and health schools. This book, which has been prepared as a result of intense effort by following up-to-date data in a period of about two years, is a resource that undergraduate, graduate students and all academics can benefit from.
Gökhan Budak - Yüksel Özdemir It is known that the latest advances and developments in physics will carry applications and developments in almost every field of other sciences to the present day. Considering this situation, it is important to understand the concepts of physics well in terms of helping the development of science branches.
This book; it is composed of the lecture notes of Vibrations and Waves Physics that we taught at Atatürk University, Faculty of Science, Physics Department between the 1995-2010 academic years. This textbook will also benefit the Vibrations and Waves Laboratory course, which is compulsory. Physics of Vibrations and Waves is one of the compulsory courses taught in the first semester of the second year in the Physics Departments of the Faculties of Science and Education of universities.
The purpose of turning these lecture notes, which are taught under the name of Vibration and Waves, into a book is that there are not enough books written in Turkish at undergraduate and graduate levels. This problem makes itself felt even more in science. Because it is not possible for university students to follow foreign sources because they do not know a foreign language. We believe that this book will be useful for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Celâl ER - Dilek BAŞALMA Seeds and seeds are the source of life. The propagation and reproduction material used or involved in the reproduction and reproduction of plants and animals, and in a broader sense of all living beings, is called seed and seed. Especially seeds, seeds, seedlings, saplings and all kinds of breeders used in agriculture have a unique (belonging) importance and this importance cannot be discussed. The seed and the seed pod is the hiding place of all the features and beauty. Even the hidden secrets of life are here. Man has been trying to reveal and read these hidden secrets since the day he began to use seeds and seeds consciously in production and reproduction. This struggle and effort of humanity will continue for eternity (until the Day of Judgment).
One of the most important proverbs in our beautiful Turkish is “What you sow, you reap!”. In that case, it is essential to use seeds and seeds of high-yielding and high-quality varieties in order to obtain a quality product and high yield. Only in this way is it possible to engage in a profitable activity. In other words, to say basically, among the production inputs, seeds and seeds, more generally, the production material used have a special place. Farmers and producers who understand this fact properly will always gain. “The harvest of the additional seed, the mourning of absence.” The proverb expresses this situation appropriately and meaningfully.
Each seed represents a new beginning. Every seed that is a new beginning is a link with the past, a healthy and meaningful bridge between the old and the new. In many ways, the study of the seed is the study of life itself. A single seed forms a neatly wrapped package containing a living organism capable of displaying almost all the stages found in a mature plant. By examining the seed or the germinating seedling, man; He also learned a lot about growth regulators, respiration, cell division, morphogenesis, photosynthesis and other activities. Although botanists have learned a great deal about seeds and seeds since the early 20th century, there are still many unknown aspects of the seed. For this reason, as today, in the future, seeds will be of interest and research.
Cevat İnal, Ali Erdi, Ferruh Yıldız In our country, maps in different scales are produced for different purposes. These maps are used by different professionals in all kinds of projects and applications based on the earth. Technical staff outside the map industry should know and be able to apply the subject and simple measurement techniques in order to be able to carry out the technical principles and application projects related to the production of these maps they use. This work has been prepared in such a way that it can be a reference source for the problems related to topography of technical staff working in sectors such as construction, architecture, city and regional planning, geology, mining, environment and agriculture, especially outside the mapping sector. In addition, the main issues of the map-cadastre sector related to topographic measurements are also included in the work.
Sezin Öner Trauma; it is defined as the whole of the effects that arouse feelings of extreme fear, horror, and helplessness, often caused by extraordinary and unexpected events. Adaptation problems after these traumatic events are inevitable, but in some people these problems can go from being short-term and last for months or even years.
In this book, how trauma is defined in different periods, explanatory models, risk and protective factors are compiled. In addition, Cognitive Processing Therapy, which has been proven to be the most effective treatment plan in the light of the effectiveness studies of psychological interventions, is introduced and different study modules of this approach are presented. This intervention plan, which is a branch of Cognitive-Behavioral therapies, focuses on the differentiation of trauma memory and post-traumatic growth processes rather than coping with trauma. In the case study presented at the end of the book, these focal points of the intervention plan and the treatment plan are exemplified.
Adile Yılmaz, Ayşe Derya Eskimen, Ayşe Yücel Çetin, Halil İbrahim Şahin, İhsan Kalenderoğlu, İsmet Çetin, Onur Alp Kayabaşı, Satı Kumartaşlıoğlu Folk literature is a wide field of literature that is the product of common consciousness, and that enables societies to exhibit the will to live together due to this feature and makes its existence permanent. Expressing the universe and the world of thought of human beings who seek the secret of existence in the universe; Literary data, which are skillfully created in every field, from mythical narratives that tell the story of the unknown universe of humanity to individual pleasures and sufferings, are generally interpreted within the broad field called folk literature.
Within the concept of folk literature, there is a rich literary field ranging from the creation of the universe to the creation of beings, from the mythical narratives in which the stories of the transformation and formation of the existence are told, to the literary data produced by the collective consciousness in the time lived. Folk literature, which continues its existence in all areas of history and historical-cultural geography, from belief-based rhetoric to entertainment-centered data, from the caress words of infancy to the laments for the lost, on the one hand, is preserved and transferred in the individual memory, and on the other hand, it maintains its existence in the social memory. It also contributes to the gathering of Turkish society around a common identity.
İsmet Çetin The stories, which are among the elements of oral culture, seen with different names, performers and performance styles in the wide geographical area where the Turkish society lives, were fictionalized with an "aesthetic" approach in the period they were created and lived, and were conveyed through words and writing; It is one of the literary genres that changed while being transferred and became the source of new literary creations. The width of the borders of the Turkish communities, which have been in constant and rapid movement since the first periods of history, and the lifestyle lived accordingly, caused the difference in the line of literary development. Despite this, the stories have been the common narratives of Turkish groups living in different parts of the Turkish geography. This book contains general information about the formation, development, performers, performance style and structure of folk storytelling, which is one of the cultural elements that form the common memory of Turkish society.

Şenay Tanrıvermiş The private lives structured by television came to light in different ways in eastern and western societies. This study provides concrete examples to the change of private life by making collective and individual culture comparisons through marriage programs. The Comparison of Marriage Shows in Two Cultures seeks to examine the complicated and often polemical terrain of marriage programs while considering their effects on the perceptions of privacy in two different societies: The United States of America and Turkey, in regards to two reality TV marriage shows: The Bachelor and Esra Erol`da Evlen Benimle.
Nowadays privacy is a commodity, property, and according to modern law one can do whatever one wants with it: some choose to sell it, or perhaps otherwise, to acquire an identity is impossible; it is that simple but its structure, content, borders and expression differ according to the impositions of western and eastern cultures.
Aysun Dağtaş, Şehnaz Şahinkarakaş People experience uncertainty in every aspect of life and researchers have investigated the concept in domains of psychology and communication in various contexts such as decision-making, health contexts, business, organizational settings and relational issues. Uncertainty is also a key concept in educational settings as it is unavoidable in life and it is a natural characteristic of learning contexts. Thus, it seems significant to expand our understandings of how students experience uncertainty while language learning. From the complex dynamic systems perspective, language learning is characterized as meaning making and this process of meaning making involves uncertain situations. Considering that uncertainty is inherent in language learning, it is necessary to understand how learners experience uncertainty in the language classroom and how they manage it.
Neyran Orhunbilge The book presented by the author to the members of the jury as a “Professor Presentation” is the first of the 6-book Statistics Series. "Regression and Correlation Analysis", which is one of the most fundamental subjects of "statistics", which in a sense forms the basis of "Multivariate Statistical Methods", is discussed in detail in the book, which was published for the first time in 1996, for the second edition in 2002 and for the third edition in 2017.
As it is known, this analysis, which is one of the most frequently used methods in determining "Forecast and Policy" especially in Business Administration, is examined theoretically by distinguishing between population and sample in the book, the validity of the assumptions is examined, and how to find solutions for deviations from the assumptions, if any, is included. Applications are presented both with detailed solutions and as computer (SPSS Program) outputs.
Fuat İnce How was the universe born? How did it evolve? What is a neutron star? What is a black hole? What is dark matter? What is dark energy? What kind of end awaits the universe?

Space has always been and will continue to be a subject that has occupied humanity since time immemorial. Although books have been written on the subject of space in many languages, there is no book that covers the history of space sciences, today's space technologies, law and politics under a single cover, neither in Turkish nor in a foreign language. In an area where superstitions roam, this book; It explains scientific, technological and political developments in a language that everyone can understand.

Gönül Budak Competence-Based Human Resource Management was first used in developed countries, especially in recent years. Although the concept of competence was introduced in the world in the 1960s, the implementation of Competency-Based Human Resources Management is very recent. Especially in our developing country, thanks to foreign investments and companies with foreign partners, domestic companies have had the opportunity to get to know this new approach and system and to see its benefits and apply it.
On the one hand, our businesses' desire to make a difference while seeking competitive advantage, on the other hand, the pressures of the legislation regulating business life and adopted in the European Union harmonization process, humanistic approaches to the employees and the pursuit of peace in the workplace and thus increasing efficiency and productivity are very important in the spread of the competence-oriented approach to human resources. played a role.
In this book, after examining the historical development of human resources, basic approaches, strategic management of human resources, behavioral, technical and legal dimensions of this function are also included. In addition, the classic human resources management functions in the book have been enriched by adding a competence-based management vision.
Diler Aslan Higher education institutions (HEIs) are the knowledge centers of a society. They aim to ensure that their graduates are well-equipped in terms of professional and research competencies and their personal development. In addition, they have responsibilities to guide and encourage practices that benefit the economy and society. HEIs must think globally, competing internationally with their locally produced knowledge and innovations. Being a pioneer and guide in the use of rapidly developing technology with the best practices is among its responsibilities.
Their success in guiding the society in education (face-to-face, distance learning and hybrid or blended), research and development, social contribution, entrepreneurship, innovation and digital transformation is directly proportional to their ability to establish a well-structured internal quality assurance system, and spread the quality culture to the society.
The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that they need to have an agile structure against unexpected risks as well as anticipated risks. One of the factors contributing to the agile structure is risk- based thinking.
Process approach in the management is effective in achieving both agility and continuous
improvements quickly, as it allows focusing on every detail regarding the execution of work.
The structure of a HEI is too complex. In addition to the requirement to comply with legal
regulations, each institution creates a management model appropriate to its own structure. Most HEIs endeavor to align their established management systems with the requirements of quality management standards, such as ISO 9001, as well as various excellence models and institutional accreditation criteria. If the institution decides to structure the management system with process approach and adapts risk and quality management to the processes while defining and establishing them, it will operate the continuous improvement system more effectively and efficiently, this will also prepare them to meet the requirements of other external assessments mentioned above. It is a proven fact.
In this book, a risk, quality and process-based management model is presented. The book covers the steps of recognizing and introducing the process framework of the HEI that is composed of the management and support processes and the main core processes such as the education (face-to-face and e-learning), research and development, public services. The steps also involve applying risk and quality management principles to every process. By following this book, the reader will be able to define and introduce all the processes of the higher education institution and establish the management system with the process approach. While readers familiarize themselves with each process, they will be able to create process-oriented risk and quality management according to the recommended steps. A continuous process improvement system by the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) Cycle will also be established. Hence, the institution will be ready for all the requirements of the external assessment programs of the higher education institutions, the ISO 9001 Quality Management System Requirements Standard, the excellence models and the institutional accreditation.
The book is designed to be used as a handbook and consists of 15 main chapters and 8
appendices. In addition to the mentioned above, the reader finds the useful information about the processes for internationalism, entrepreneurship, innovation and digital transformation. It also covers some useful information on the teaching and learning centers, e-learning and micro-credentials, the readiness levels for research, development and innovation projects and the business process management software application models. The book presents findings from the project on establishing the infrastructure of a continuous quality assurance system in a HEI.
Finally, it reviews global HEI ranking systems and institutional indicators specific to HEIs in
Turkey.
This book should be read with the book “Process-Based Management Are You Ready for
Digital Transformation? (For Public, Private and Non-Governmental Organizations) by Diler
Aslan”
Ayla ÖBER Zoology course is the most basic course for all biologists. During the undergraduate education, zoology will be used in all the courses to be studied, and the requirements for a better understanding of this course will increase. In the book prepared to meet this need, zoology in general terms; cell and tissue systems and the structuring of tissues are discussed on the basis of embryological development. Under thirteen chapters in total; disciplines in biology, ways of examining biological events, cell and cell science, cell elements, functions of the nucleus, reproduction-reproduction, embryology, organization-histology in living things, organs and systems, diversity of life, ecology and behavior are discussed. Biodiversity is given as an introduction to the information to be obtained in the systematics of invertebrate and vertebrate groups, and ecology and behavior issues form a preliminary information for the following years.
Working with the third edition is for biologists and anyone interested in biology; It will be useful because it provides the opportunity to meet with biology and convey the basic subjects in an understandable language.
