Velittin Kalınkara Our elderly world has also started to age demographically. Although the phenomenon of aging is mostly accepted as a problem of developed countries, it is now an issue that should be emphasized as much as developed countries. Since the beginning of the twentieth century, there has been a significant increase in the number and proportion of the elderly as a result of the improvement of health conditions, decrease in fertility and increase in quality of life with the effect of industrialization. This increase; It has caused rapid and important changes in family and community life, changed social institutions, behavior and values, and affected the status and functions of the elderly. In this process, while the family structure and social structure changed, the readiness of the family and the institutions did not change in the same direction. While the improvement of living conditions ensures longevity, the economic, social and health-related problems of longevity are generally ignored.
This book will be useful for individuals to equip themselves with basic information about aging and to develop an attitude towards solving problems. It is a source book especially for academicians working in health and social fields, students studying in the field and those who are interested in the subject.

Medical biology and genetics is the science of biology that studies the hereditary character that affects human existence and health. This book has been arranged according to the needs of the departments to be used during the conduct of the "Medical Biology and Genetics" course taught in the first years of Health Services programs and faculties. The selected course contents are handled in a general framework and aim to provide students with a basic perspective on the field. The chapters of the book are planned as seven chapters in accordance with this purpose. In the first three chapters, cell biology and metabolism are explained from simple to complex in the light of current literature. In the following three chapters, the structure and organization of hereditary material are explained and detailed information is given about genetic diseases affecting human health. In the last section, cancer genetics and pathogenesis are explained and the pathophysiological process from gene to cell behavior is discussed as a whole.
Students who are new to higher education have difficulty in understanding the main subjects of medical biology and genetics, which consist of abstract data. For this reason, the topics in the book are explained in an understandable language as well as being embodied with detailed drawings. Although the topics are explained briefly and concisely, they are supported by the current literature.
Ender M. Coşkunpınar In recent years, our knowledge has increased within the scope of research on the molecular basis of diseases. With the use of increasing knowledge in both medical biology and medical genetics, diseases caused by cellular and chromosomal changes, which have a genetic basis, are tried to be understood on the one hand and treated on the other. Written from this point of view, this book covers all topics from the beginning of life to cell death mechanisms under the main title of "Medical Biology". Under the main title of “Genetics”, it provides an integrity starting from the structure of DNA and RNA, including the features of the genetic code, mutations and inheritance patterns. The difference of our book from its counterparts written so far is that the second part includes molecular genetics applications and practical applications step by step. There are six chapters in the "Application" part of the book, in which medical biology and genetics are covered in fourteen chapters. This book, which has been prepared in accordance with the curriculum of the relevant boards of medical faculties, is a textbook that can be used in the relevant departments of health sciences faculties, dentistry faculties and health schools. This book, which has been prepared as a result of intense effort by following up-to-date data in a period of about two years, is a resource that undergraduate, graduate students and all academics can benefit from.
Diler Aslan Medical (clinical) laboratory management has a key position in the healthcare sector in terms of human health, patient safety, quality of community/population life and cost effective healthcare expenditures. Medical/Clinical laboratories (MLs/CLs) are also the data centers of healthcare institutions. Laboratory tests are requested from approximately 80% of individuals admitted to a health institution, and 70-80% of medical decisions are made based on the test results. In addition to providing reliable test results to each individual/patient in a timely and cost-effective manner, information about public health status can also be obtained from laboratory data.
Their success in these responsibilities and duties is directly proportional to their ability to
establish a well-structured risk, quality and process-based system.
In this book: a risk, quality and process-based management model is presented. The book covers the steps of recognizing and introducing the process framework of a medical (clinical) laboratory that is composed of the management and support processes. The total examination process, which is the main core process of an ML/CL, is composed of 5 subprocesses. The steps also include the application of risk and quality management to every process. By following this book, the laboratory professional will be able to define and introduce all the processes of a ML/CL and establish the management system with the process approach. Laboratory professionals will be able to familiarize themselves with each process and create process-oriented risk and quality management systems following the recommended steps. A continuous process improvement system, based on the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) Cycle, will also be established. Hence, the ML/CL will be prepared to meet all the requirements of external assessment programs, including the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standard, the excellence models such as the EFQM, and the Accreditation Standard ISO 15189:2022 for Medical Laboratories-Requirements for Quality and Competence.". The book is designed to be used as a handbook and consists of 22 chapters. The reader will be able to define the process framework of a medical laboratory and identify its documents according to the document hierarchy. Additionally, they can structure the total testing process, which includes preanalytical, analytical, and postanalytical processes both inside and outside the laboratory. Furthermore, the book covers topics on management and support processes as well as data analysis, the development of training programs for laboratory professionals and providing the useful information to the patients. Moreover, the book reviews the governance system, the
alignment of process objectives with strategic goals, outcomes of performed projects related to the medical laboratory management, and the essential competencies for a medical laboratory manager.
This book should be read with the book “Process-Based Management Are You Ready for Digital Transformation? (For Public, Private and Non-Governmental Organizations) by Diler Aslan”

Microbiology has always been intertwined with transfusion medicine from the very beginning. With our current knowledge, viral hepatitis and later HIV have been observed as inevitable and persistent complications of transfusions long after the onset and development of transfusion. For more than four decades, blood centers have struggled with the control of these and other transfusion-transmitted microorganisms. In the years before the routine screening of hepatitis (especially hepatitis C), blood transfusions were accepted as the main mode of transmission of these agents. Subsequent HIV transmission could also be a major transfusion tragedy.
All these have taught us that the process must be managed with serious actions in ensuring blood transfusion safety. Today, even more unpredictable factors have emerged, and it seems that they will continue to emerge and besiege humanity.

In the book, femicide has been discussed from various aspects, and the subject has been tried to be examined from perspectives such as social work, sociology, psychology, forensic sciences and religious sciences. Of course, we are aware that it is difficult to explain a very important issue such as femicide in a book with all its aspects, but we have done this study hoping that this work will be a start in order to increase the number of studies in this direction.
The book is dedicated to all women in Turkey, whose names are unknown and who fell victim to male terror for various reasons, along with symbolic names such as Emine Yılmaz, Özgecan Aslan, Güldunya Ceremony and Ayşe Paşalı. We hope that this book will be useful to all people working in the field, especially decision makers, and thus contribute to the prevention of femicide.

Our traditional dishes have evolved over centuries of skill and knowledge. While adapting them to today's conditions, it is necessary to stay true to their essence and to make them with traditional materials as much as possible. Only then will we reach their true flavors. Without being aware of this and without learning how to cook traditional dishes properly, "I did it, it's done." Attempting to create artificial creativity in the form of a kitchen will cause the kitchen to disappear, not live. This book has been prepared with the contribution of the gastronomy departments of 23 universities and presents the dishes, desserts, drinks and winter preparations from all over Anatolia with detailed explanations. It is a book that understands that food gains value along with their culture. These menu examples start with a section describing the historical development of the cuisine, and in more than twenty sections with names such as soups, meat dishes, stuffed meat dishes, menu samples, it also gives information such as their history, cultural contexts, and geographical features.
Priscilla Mary Ray - Food Historian

I believe that this innovative work, in which theory and practice are brought together, will be very useful for the correct transmission of Turkish cuisine.

Şahin Kesici, Abdullah Mert, Eda Köklü Bayrakcı, Cenk Kiper This book; It covers family theories and case examples that have an important place in family counseling.
The book provides information about the theoretical background of the concept of family counseling for its readers. In the first part of the book, family counseling based on people's emotional functions and behaviors, called “Murray Bowen's Family Systems Theory” or “Bowen Therapy”, is described. “Imago Spouse” is chosen by the individual to treat unresolved problems and “Marriage is a kind of cure.” "Imago Therapy", as a family therapy theory developed by Hendrix and his wife, is also covered in the second chapter. In the third chapter, Satir's theory, which defines parents as “the conscious or unconscious working architects of their existing families by bringing together what they have learned from their root families” is discussed. The theory and techniques of "Systemic Family Therapy", also known as the Milan group, are also discussed in the fourth chapter.

Abdurrahman Aksoy, Ayhan Filazi, Begüm Yurdakök-Dikmen, Sinan İnce, Yavuz Kürşad Daş Veterinary toxicology is a discipline that is considered within the scope of "single health" and deals with the issue of whether chemical substances that can be found in animal products can harm the health of people in contact with them, as well as poisons that affect animals for their economic pursuit or satisfaction. It is an inevitable fact that events such as climate change, which occur as a result of the damage caused by humans to nature, will affect animals in a significant way. All over the world, animals and humans have to live in a more polluted environment today than in the past, and no one can guarantee a better environment in the future. Most of the toxicological problems are global, but only a few are regional or local, and unfortunately most of these common poisons do not have an antidote. Therefore, facing the new challenges of the 21st century is the most important task of toxicologists. In their subject matter, farm animals are often complicated by the fact that the responses of our lovable animal companions, aquatic and wild animals to poisons are quite broad and vastly different. Likewise, the toxicity of a chemical varies depending on the environment of the animal and many other factors. Thus, in the work, there is information about the poisons that cause poisoning in animals, their sources, their way of entry into the body, their distribution, metabolism, excretion, their effects on animals, diagnostic methods, prevention and treatment approaches, as well as the substances that cause environmental pollution and how to be protected from them.

Although the World Health Organization (WHO) considers those over the age of 65 to be elderly, all individuals in old age do not constitute a homogeneous group. In other words, each elderly person may have different needs or occupations. In this sense, elderly care is a special concept that requires a holistic approach. With the increasing elderly population, elderly care has become a very important concept.
The increase in the proportion of the elderly in the total population means that the number of elderly individuals in need of professional care also increases. In this context, the need for personnel who will serve as intermediate staff has increased as well as physicians / nurses who can provide professional treatment and care for the elderly.
In addition to the definitions of the elderly and old age, this book contains the basic concepts in elderly care and is a source book on the care of the elderly. Hoping to be a guide in the care of the elderly…

While increasing life expectancy and lowering birth rates are considered great achievements in modern science and health care, their significant impact on future generations is underrated. No matter how long we live, it becomes necessary for every country to rethink and restructure its social and economic institutions in order to ensure the well-being of individuals when working life ends. The aging of societies can affect economic growth and the sustainability of families, the ability of states and societies to provide resources for older people, and many other issues, including international relations. Despite scientific evidence, the importance and global implications of population aging are not yet fully understood. There is a need to raise awareness not only of global aging issues, but also of the importance of rigorous international scientific research and policy dialogue to help us respond to the challenges and opportunities of an aging world.
This book paints a picture of the impact of the aging population on the economy, society, family and environment. We hope this book, consisting of twenty chapters and contributed by 32 authors, will encourage you to identify the best ways to address dialogue, international studies, and the universal human experience about work, economics, family, communication, landscaping, and behavioral issues. We believe that scientists and every member of the society will be inspired by these suggestions and experiences in planning our own future, the aging and aging policies of the world societies and our country.
Gönül Budak Competence-Based Human Resource Management was first used in developed countries, especially in recent years. Although the concept of competence was introduced in the world in the 1960s, the implementation of Competency-Based Human Resources Management is very recent. Especially in our developing country, thanks to foreign investments and companies with foreign partners, domestic companies have had the opportunity to get to know this new approach and system and to see its benefits and apply it.
On the one hand, our businesses' desire to make a difference while seeking competitive advantage, on the other hand, the pressures of the legislation regulating business life and adopted in the European Union harmonization process, humanistic approaches to the employees and the pursuit of peace in the workplace and thus increasing efficiency and productivity are very important in the spread of the competence-oriented approach to human resources. played a role.
In this book, after examining the historical development of human resources, basic approaches, strategic management of human resources, behavioral, technical and legal dimensions of this function are also included. In addition, the classic human resources management functions in the book have been enriched by adding a competence-based management vision.
Ayla ÖBER Zoology course is the most basic course for all biologists. During the undergraduate education, zoology will be used in all the courses to be studied, and the requirements for a better understanding of this course will increase. In the book prepared to meet this need, zoology in general terms; cell and tissue systems and the structuring of tissues are discussed on the basis of embryological development. Under thirteen chapters in total; disciplines in biology, ways of examining biological events, cell and cell science, cell elements, functions of the nucleus, reproduction-reproduction, embryology, organization-histology in living things, organs and systems, diversity of life, ecology and behavior are discussed. Biodiversity is given as an introduction to the information to be obtained in the systematics of invertebrate and vertebrate groups, and ecology and behavior issues form a preliminary information for the following years.
Working with the third edition is for biologists and anyone interested in biology; It will be useful because it provides the opportunity to meet with biology and convey the basic subjects in an understandable language.
