Being a parent in human life has an important place. A new child can bring with it new worries, new challenges, and new stresses, as well as new feelings, new understandings, and new joys. While these changes are a unique experience for the parent, they can also be challenging at times. Pregnancy and transition to parenthood is a period of adjustment that has important effects on the baby-parent relationship and the development of the baby. Relevant education, information and advice for new parents during this transition period is important. In this book, physical, psychological and social preparation for becoming a parent before pregnancy, psychological adaptation of the mother and father to pregnancy, parental attachment, the process of becoming a mother and father, as well as the pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum preparation of the pregnant woman and her family for parenthood are included.
The book, Preparing for Parenthood, has emerged as a result of the hard work of a strong team of writers from various cities and universities in Turkey. We hope that the book will be useful to midwives, nurses, midwife and nurse candidate students, as well as to mothers and fathers, new mothers and fathers, and to the world of science.
