Materials and Metallurgical Engineering \ 1-1
Buğra Çiçek, Oğuz Karaahmet Boron carbide, which is the hardest material known after diamond and cubic boron nitride, is an important material used in abrasive chemicals, defense industry, nuclear technology and aerospace industry applications, thanks to its many desirable properties such as low density, high chemical resistance, high hardness and melting point. is the main compound.
Today, approximately 95% of the products used in the world boron carbide market are produced by traditional carbothermic reduction methods. Considering the toxic gas, dusting and regulations that occur during production with these methods, it is seen that traditional production methods are not sustainable and therefore researches on sustainable boron carbide production methods are increasing.
“Low temperature boron carbide production with alternative carbon sources”, which is a strong option in terms of environmental responsibility and competitive production costs, has been researched with many different approaches, especially in recent years, and positive steps have been taken regarding its industrial applicability. Within the scope of this book, a general presentation of these studies, together with their technical infrastructure, has been shared with the researchers.
Tolga Pırasacı, Mecit Sivrioğlu This book has been prepared for Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students to use in their "Mechanical Installation" courses. It also has content that can help mechanical engineers in "Mechanical Installation" applications.
In the book; Information is given in the branches of heating, cooling, ventilation and air conditioning systems of the mechanical installation, and how to make the calculations in the related installation projects is explained with examples.
The book has been designed as a textbook for a one-semester course and has been prepared assuming that students have knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
Süleyman Karadeniz, Ayhan Çelik, A. Fatih Yetim, Halim Kovacı, Özgü Bayrak, Yakup Uzun, Onur Çomaklı, Mevra Aslan Our Welding Technology book consists of 10 chapters. In the first part, the definition and classification of the welding process, the formation of the welding arc and the factors affecting the arc; In the second part, welding machines and their characteristics are examined; Types of fusion welding and gas metal arc welding in the 3rd chapter; In section 4, hot pressure welding, cold pressure welding and friction stir welding; In chapter 5, special welding methods are discussed; In chapter 6, heat treatments applied to materials before and after welding; In chapter 7, information on welding stainless steels, aluminum, copper, titanium, magnesium, cast irons; In chapter 8, classification and properties of welding electrodes are explained; In chapter 9, welding defects and in chapter 10, destructive and non-destructive testing of welded materials are explained.
We hope that this book will contribute to our university students, engineers and industrialists.
Cahit Kurbanoğlu The Machine Elements book consists of theory, construction and problems. In addition to this comprehensive content, the whole book consists of fifteen chapters. In these fifteen chapters, basic information, Insoluble and solvable fasteners, Wedges, shaft and hub fasteners, Carriage and supporting elements, Energy accumulation, connection and power and energy transmission elements, as well as Geometry of gear wheels, Spur gear machines and problems. sections are included. In addition to this division of the book, some tables are also presented to be used in the preparation of the project. Study; It has been prepared as a resource that can be easily used in all subjects in the field of machine elements in associate, undergraduate, graduate education and professional life for the benefit of both students, those working in the field of mechanical technology and mechanical engineers.
Selim Çetinkaya Thermodynamics, which is one of the basic engineering sciences, is given in the work within the framework of logical order, since its subjects are settled. The titles in the work that will benefit students who receive technical sciences and engineering education at associate and undergraduate level are listed as follows:
Basic thermodynamic concepts and definitions, properties of pure matter, ideal gas and ideal gas laws, first law of thermodynamics, second law and entropy, basic processes, theoretical and real cycles of four and two-stroke engines, theoretical and real cycles of gas turbines, aviation gas turbines, steam power cycles, refrigeration and heat pump cycles, fuels and combustion.
In the book, the subjects are handled in a very concise manner; laws, procedures and practices are discussed in an easy-to-understand manner without going into details. SI units are used in the book, and many sample problems are included in each chapter to help understanding the topics and principles. A sufficient number of study problems are added at the end of the chapters and their answers are given at the end of the problems. In the appendices, there are various charts used in solving the problems in the book.
